Plastic free care products

August 10, 2018 0 Comments

Hello dear green people.
The plastic free july challenge is over and I took this challenge as an apportunity to return to more natural products which are mostly self-made by some onlineshops. I wanted to give you some tips, how you can minimize the amount of plastic in your bathroom as well as review the alternative products. Some products could turn out to be quite travel-friendly as you don't have to bring tons of liquids with you on the plane.

Thirteen moons - the path to walk - Epica - Beyond Belief
Hello dear green people.
People are wearing footwear that is either too big, too small or too tight for their feet. Specially women pay much more attention to the look and design of the shoes, so they wear unnatural high heels and end up in foot pain.
In this post, I wanted to write about my bare foot shoes, the health benefits of wearing them and some of my favourite brands.

Organic Oils for hair & skin

July 31, 2018 0 Comments

Hello dear green people.
In today's post I wanted to write about my favourite oils, when and how I use them and their benefits for the hair & the skin.
Oils are indispensable in natural cosmetics. Whether various hair oils, special facial oils or pure natural oils from the kitchen - oils are not only in winter a perfect moisturizer.
I personally have six oils in use, which I use over & over again.
So let's get started!

Castor oil
Castor oil is made out of the seed from the ricinius communius plant which is native from Africa & Asia. Its colorless or yellowish and has a thick texture. The oil tastes rather mild and is strongly laxative.
Its benefits
  • It is anti-inflammatory
  • Evens the skin tone
  • Helps to manage eczema
  • Is acne-friendly
  • It's good for cleansing the skin
  • Treats wrinkles & soothes dry wskin
Cleopatra used the oil to brighten up her eyes and it's very well known to support lash/hair growth.
How I use it
I use this oil in the evening to support my lash-growth. I apply a small amount of the oil on my eyelashes and let it sink into my lashes over night.

Tamanu oil
Tamanu oil is made from the nuts of the calophyllum inophyllum tree and grows in Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Its color is yellowish-green and it smells strong and nutty.
Its benefits
  • It is anti-inflammatory
  • heals scars
  • absorbs UV rays
  • heals burns
  • reduces stretch marks
  • relieves burns
  • soothes dry skin
  • Brightens dark spots.
In case of nut allergies the oil should be avoided.
How I use it
I use it pure and apply it to my acne and acne scars overnight. It relieves redness and acne heals faster.

Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip seed oil is made from the wild rose bushes of rose moschata, which grows in the aden. It can also be made from Rosa canina and come from South Africa or Europe.
It smells very strongly of tea and has a yellowish to orange color.

Rosehip seed oil is full of vitamins like vitamin A and vitamin C, antioxidants and fatty acids.

Its benefits

  • It's moisturizing
  • Treats wrinkles
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Repairs damaged skin
  • Brightens the skin
  • It's anti-inflammatory
  • Heals acne
How I use it
I use this in combination with argan oil to treat my acne over night. I apply it on my very dry and red skin. In the morning it leaves a healthy glow on the areas where I applied it.

Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is a liquid wax extracted from the seeds of the jojoba plant Simmondsia chinensis. It is made in Mexico and has a transparent to golden color. It can be used alone or combined with other oils.
Jojoba oil is similar to the sebum, so it can be quite beneficial for the scalp too and it is high in Vitamin E & Vitamin B.
Its benefits
  • moisturizing - to the face, skin and scalp/hair
  • antibacterial
  • healing
  • reduces wrinkles
  • anti-inflammatory
How I use it
I use the jojoba oil to remove my make-up in the evening. I add 1-2 drops of the oil to my palms and then massage it into my skin. I also put some oil on my eyelashes to remove the mascara. The oil even removes conventional, waterproof mascara! Then I lather some facial soap in my hand with water and remove the oil and foam with a washcloth soaked in warm water.

Ayurvedic Hair Oil Balsam
The ayurvedic hair oil balsam, includes sesame oil, lemon essential oil and brown mustard oil.
It has an orange color and smells very strongly of an Indian spice mixture.

The sesame oil contains antioxidants, regenerates the scalp, detoxifies and nourishes the hair. It also protects the hair und scalp for any UV rays. There may be cross-reactions with soy or other nut varieties when used.
The lemon essential oil exfoliates dead skin and removes dandruff.
The mustard oil is warming, circulation-promoting, anti-inflammatory and prevents fungus spreading.
How I use it

I use this hair balm as a pre-wash for my dry scalp by appyling a few drops on my scalp and massaging the rest into the lenght. I let it sink into my hair a few hours - if I have enough time. Then I wash my hair with shampoo and add some conditioner into the tips of the hair.

Argan oil
Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa), which is based in Morocco.
It's full of antioxidants, fatty acids, Vitamin A and Vitamin E, has a scent similar to olive oil and a yellowish to green color.
Its benefits
  • reduces the sebum production - so it's really good for super oily skin
  • reduces inflammation
  • heals acne scars and redness
  • makes the hair soft and silky
  • gives the skin a healthy glow
  • prevents skin aging
  • is protecing and preventing
How I use it
In the evening I apply a small amount of argan oil while mixing it with some rosehip seed oil in the palms and i apply it on my face over night to treat dry skin areas. I also really appreciate it, to use it for my hair tips. It's also quite good in preventing getting split ends during the hot summer days.

What are your favorite oils for skin and hair?
Let me know in the comments!
*Advertisement / Commercial - I don't get any money for writing about the oils and showing the products. Products are bought by myself!

A summer breeze makes all winters freeze - Epica - Linger

Hello dear green people
Today I wanted to write about sunprotection, as it's quite summery in Switzerland now and some experts say, that the "spring-sun" is quite stronger than the "summer sun" - so your body needs much more protection during spring time. I am quite happy, that the sun is back so I can get much more Vitamin D because I suffer from a Vitamin D deficiency.  I will tell you the difference between physical and mineral SPF as well as I show you my currently used organic/physical SPF on the market.

The silence's calling out for chemical insomnia - Epica - Chemical Insomnia

Hello dear green people
Today I wanted to share with you some of the most harmful ingredients in conventional, non-organic cosmetic products.
As you know, I switched to all organic products in 2016 and I stuck with it on most of the products - but not with all of them. I skipped back to some non-organic products but currently I live 100 % organic.
Maybe you might still be in the transformation to live a greener lifestyle and to find the right organic products for you. To help you a bit, I wanted to share with you some of the most used chemicals in cosmetics, what they can actually cause and which green alternatives are used in the products instead of these ingredients.

We must return to the laws of the nature - Epica - Consign To Oblivion
This post was already released in 2017, so I re-uploaded it in 2018
Hello dear green people
Todays post is inspired by a german documentary of 2015  that I recently watched called "10 Billion - what's on your plate?".
It talks about the year 2050 when almost 10 billion humans will be living on Mother Earth and if we will have enough food for all of us. The author talks with certain people around the world, shares alternative creative ideas for the food industry and talks about the factory farming.
I just wanted to share the new informations that I got by watching this documentary and my own review.

2017 is almost over and for me it's time to review this year a bit. I wanted to share with you some special events which were really meaningful to me, things I've learned - as you always grow by your own experiences. And sometimes it's nice to excogitate your own acts and learn what you can avoid in the near future. This year had its ups and downs - especially in the 2nd half of the year. But let's get started with the beginning of the year and a really special event.

Organic Christmas Gifts - Ideas

January 04, 2018 0 Comments

This post was already released in 2017, so I re-uploaded it in 2018.
Hello dear green people
Today I wanted to share with you some eco deoration ideas & christmasgift ideas. At first I thought, I would post some organic make-up ideas, but I think a lot of bloggers are doing that. So sometimes make-up is not really that environmental friendly, most of the stuff you don't actually need and a lot of the products come in a plastic packaging.
So I personally think, that christmas is the best holiday to wish you a high-quality, important and useable gift - which you can use all year around.
So I did some research and I wanted to show you some of my ideas.

I took the pictures on different days, when I didn't had my decoration plate back then, so there are different backgrounds you see in the pictures.

Fall time is also the time where most people're getting a cold or a flu.
Being surrounded by a lot of bacterias in public transport and sneezing people doesn't help the situation.
But there are a lot of healthy foods you can consume to boost your immune system during the colder months and I wanted to share this with you.
Being a hobby-singer I realized, that the milk was a great supporter for my voice - I hit the high notes without any problems and the throat was mucus-free. So I think this drink is perfect for any musician out there!

Health benefits of oil pulling

January 03, 2018 0 Comments

This post was already released in 2017, so I re-uploaded it in 2018

Oil pulling
Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic ritual where you take a tablespoon of your favourite organic oil and into your mouth and swish it around between 10-20 minutes on an empty stomach. As the oil pulls toxins and bacteria from your teeth, gum and tongue - you should not swallow it. After the time is up, you spit it into a paper towel - as the oil gets thicker in your mouth and can clog your drain.
Rinse your mouth with warm water before brushing your teeth.

DIY Toothpaste/Mouth wash recipe

This post was already released in 2017, so I re-uploaded it in 2018
Hello dear, green people.
Today I wanted to share with you my DIY toothpaste & mouthwash recipe.
The recipe is plastic free, you can save some money and take good care for your dental health. I started to create my own toothpaste 1 month ago, before I used a regular organic, fluoride-containing mint toothpaste. The fluoride as an ingredient in dental products gets a lot of criticism - some scientists say it's really harmful, others say only real fluorine is toxic for us humans. Anyway, I don't know what I should believe in, so prefer to make my own toothpaste, where I know the ingredients list.

Nowadays most women are exposed to the risk of getting cervical cancer or breast cancer. In switzerland every year 5'900 women are getting this diagnose - younger women as just as older women. So breast cancer is the most common type of cancer, that women get.
